Exploring faculty interdisciplinary collaboration on Rice Campus with Networks and GIS

With the Office of Research at Rice University, we wanted to explore faculty publication trends and collaboration on campus and the effects of spatial proximity on the likelihood of interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize faculty placement on campus. For this, I created a data pipeline to retrieve scientific papers of faculty members through Scopus APIs and built a series of automated reporting tools and dashboards with R’s Shiny (posit.co).
